Pennington Cruises to the CRUSA Late Model Sportsman Win at 2025 Battle of the States
(Meridian, MS - April 7th, 2025) – Chace Pennington was simply untouchable on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, leading flag-to-flag in the 20-lap CRUSA Late Model Sportsman feature to capture the $1,000 victory at the 2025 Battle of the States. Pennington’s dominant performance capped off a perfect weekend, as he set fast time in qualifying, won his heat race, and then cruised to a comfortable victory in the main event.
Pennington started on the pole for the feature after an impressive run in qualifying, where he posted the fastest time of 00:13.774. He then backed that up with a heat race victory to solidify his spot at the front of the field for the feature. When the green flag flew for the 20-lap feature, Pennington wasted no time asserting his dominance, quickly establishing a commanding lead that he would never relinquish.
Brett White, who started in third, would challenge throughout the race but could not mount a serious challenge for the lead, ultimately finishing second. Colby Ponds, who started in second, completed the podium with a third-place finish after running a solid race.
Cooper Thrash had a performance, starting 12th and racing his way to 7th, making the biggest move of the night by gaining five positions. Despite his impressive charge through the field, it was Pennington who stole the show with his flawless performance.
Pennington’s victory marks back-to-back weekends at Whynot he has landed in victory lane.
